WSOC Draws with UC Merced at Senior Night

Angwin, CALIFORNIA - The Lady Pioneers hosted UC Merced at The Jungle on October 27th. The Pioneers are hoping to get a playoff spot with a couple good results with this game and their next against Simpson. Kickoff was at 4:00 PM PDT with moderate temperatures and partly cloudy skies.

The first half was a stalemate as both teams went back and forth in the midfield and neither team was able to make a true impact in the offense. Only 1 shot was recorded in the 1st half by UC Merced. In the 37th minute, Scylla Alavizos of UC Merced was given a yellow card, and the 1st half ended 0-0.

The same would happen in the 2nd half, as both teams would push back and forth but the Pioneers and the Bobcats were both unable to make any decisive impact in their attacking halves. Both defenses had great games in stopping the offense's attempts. Only 2 shots were recorded in the 2nd half which both came from UC Merced. In the 57th minute, Merced player Isabella Spiva was given a yellow card. Pioneer goalkeeper Jayleen Casillas only recorded 1 save during the 90 minutes of play.

The Lady Pioneers will travel to Redding to face off against Simpson University, with high hopes of earning a playoff position. The game will be on October 30th, and kickoff will be at 12:00 PM PDT.
