WSOC Draws with St. Katherines

Angwin, CALIFORNIA - The Lady Pioneers hosted Saint Katherine for another CalPac matchup on October 13th. The Pioneers were coming off of a tough loss against Westcliff and were hoping to get a result against Saint Katherine. Kickoff was at 2:30 PM PDT with clear skies and it was a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Both teams seemed evenly matched, but in the 14th minute, Saint Katherine player Isabela Deleon scored to make it 1-0 in favor of the Firebirds. But just after 13 minutes Bella Cervantes was able to tie up the score in the 27th minute, thanks to an assist from Isabella Huerta. In the 1st half, the Firebird recorded 4 shots while the Pioneers had 2 shots. The score would remain 1-1 at halftime.

In the 2nd half, most of the game was played in the midfield as both teams fought for possession of the ball. Neither team would be able to score as both teams only recorded 4 shots combined in the 2nd half, and the score would remain 1-1 when the final whistle blew. Pioneer goalkeeper Jayleen Casillas would finish the game with 3 saves.

The Lady Pioneers will host Providence Christian at St. Helena High School on October 15th. Kickoff will be at 9:00 PM PDT.
