MSOC Ends Season in a Tie with Simpson

Redding, CALIFORNIA - The Simpson Redhawks hosted our Pacific Union Pioneers for our last game of CalPac conference play on October 30th. Kickoff was at 2:30 PM The Pioneers were coming off of a close game against UC Merced and were hoping for a good result against the Redhawks.

The Pioneers had a lapse in defense and the Redhawks scored in the 1st minute of the game making it 1-0 very early. The goal was scored by Joel Sterling and was assisted by Christian Guevara. The Redhawks would score again in the 17th minute by Pablo Jimenez and was assisted by Jaime Guiterrez Vela. The 1st half would end 2-0 in favor of Simpson and the Pioneers would make a plan to come out stronger in the 2nd half.

The Pioneers would immediately come out strong in the 2nd half with a diving header goal by Pioneer Hunter Valerio, scoring his 1st goal of the season and making the game 2-1. Just 10 minutes later the Pioneers would score again as Joshua Grinn crossed a ball in for Issay Bravo to slot it in the back of the net to make it 2-2. Simpson would have a chance to make it 3-2 in the last 5 minutes of the game from a 1 on 1, but Jake Hendricks was able to make a strong save to keep the score tied at 2-2, and the game would finish that way.

The Pioneers ended their season 4-10-2 with lots of room for improvement. The Pioneers will continue to train for their season next year with a goal of making it to the conference playoffs.
