MSOC Falls to La Sierra in Riverside

Riverside, CALIFORNIA - La Sierra hosted our Pacific Union Pioneers on October 22nd in a rivalry game for another CalPac game. Kickoff was at 9:00 PM PDT and under the lights for a great atmosphere for a soccer game.

For this rivalry game, both teams were hoping to come out strong in hopes of winning important points for playoff positions. La Sierra scored first in the 23rd minute with a goal by Anthony Garcia which put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 early in the match.  They would later go on to score another in the 38th minute off of a penalty kick committed by Pioneer Gianluca Durso and scored again by Golden Eagles striker Anthony Garcia. The 1st half would end 2-0 in favor of La Sierra.

In the 2nd half, the Pioneers would hold off the La Sierra offense, as well as push against their defense throughout the match. It was a tough game in the midfield as it became very physical. The Pioneers were able to score in the 89th minute with a goal from Issay Bravo, but unfortunately, it was too late for a 2nd as the game finished 2-1 for La Sierra. 5 yellow cards were given out as well as a red card for Pioneer Gianluca Durso. Pioneer goalkeeper Jake Hendricks ended the match with 5 saves.

The Pioneers will host UC Merced on October 27th for seniors, who will be recognizing seniors Daniel Castro and Jacob Jaimes. Kickoff will be at The Jungle at 1:00 PM PDT.
